  HR AND SUCCESSION PLANNING

Succession Planning

Succession planning for the Payroll team is something that can be easily overlooked but is as important for the successful continuation of the service and its growth as for any other department.

We can assist with the drafting and implementation of development plans for the Payroll Team as a whole or for specific roles through understanding the function, the individual roles and through a training and skills audit.

This will enable us to work with the organisation to devise both professional and personal development plans for the various roles.

Very often it is difficult to recruit skilled and experienced payroll people in areas with high concentrations of business and so a development programme will both aide with staff retention and also enable the organisation to recruit people without payroll skills who will go through full training on the job in system use, procedures and processes, terms and conditions and legislation. We would suggest that this is alongside attending recognised payroll training courses and also taking a recognised payroll qualification such as the Institute of Payroll Professionals Foundation in Payroll and Diploma in Payroll Management.

For senior positions we can also help with mentoring either the development of a mentoring plan or providing the mentoring directly.

The Institute of Payroll Professionals (IPP) has now published its Payroll Management Competence Framework from trainees and junior assistants through to payroll specialists and this will be used in the development plans, outlined above, to help your people achieve and sustain the industry recognised standards and continue their professional and personal development.
